Who We Are

A registered professional engineer with over 30 years experience in utility telecommunications design, strategy, advocacy, and standards development, Kathy Nelson is a respected expert in her field. She brings a breadth and depth of knowledge to support your team.

After spending 25 years as a telecommunications engineer at a large generation and transmission company in Minnesota, Kathy has since worked for a wireless manufacturing company and at a consulting firm before starting her own consulting business. Kathy also served on the board of directors for Utilities Telecommunications Council including becoming the first Chairwoman of the 75-year-old trade association and serving as Public Policy Division Chair. In these roles she focused on advocacy and became passionate about RF spectrum availability for utilities.

In addition to being a technical expert in her field, Kathy is passionate about promoting women and girls in STEM. She hosts a podcast, “Ordinarily Extraordinary - conversations with women in STEM,” and provides community for women in STEM.
